Carmen María Montiel resides in Houston, Texas, and regularly participates in numerous charitable and community efforts, such as those hosted by the Latino Learning Center (LLC). LLC educational initiatives include the English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

Initiatives managed by the LLC provide services and support to low-income communities in Houston and place particular emphasis on closing the gaps between adult education services and those for elderly and disabled individuals. The organization’s ESL classes incorporate lessons for all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Beginning levels focus on helping participants achieve a basic understanding of the English language and foster general communication skills. Intermediate to advance levels offer more in-depth English language instruction, including effective communication skills in a business and social setting.
Class sessions run for 12 weeks, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Enrollment costs $180, although students may pay for classes in two $90 installments. Students who complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion.
For more information on the class, visit latinolearningcenter.org/esl.
