The Latino Learning Center was founded in Houston over 35 years ago by leaders in the Latino community, including Abraham Ramirez and Frank Orozco. The self-supported nonprofit helps find affordable housing for older adults and people with disabilities in the community. The Center also teaches the next generation to speak English and learn marketable skills. Each year, the Latino Learning Center puts on a Night with the Stars Gala and a Fashion Show with the Stars to raise funds for the organization and feature talented members of the Latino community in Houston.

Partly thanks to the efforts of the Latino Learning Center, Houston has a vibrant Latino community whose elders and individuals with disabilities are supported. Also, many more radio, television, and print options are available now in Spanish than when the organization was first established.
